Stewart H. Ankrom, President

Ankrom Moisan Architects

6720 SW Macadam Ave., Suite 100

Portland, OR  97219

Dear Mr. Ankrom,

As Portlanders concerned for the common good of our city, we are writing you and your company today to protest your involvement in building a massive prenatal killing center for Planned Parenthood on MLK Boulevard.

This is a stark departure from the good you have done your community in church and school designs. In the mega-abortion clinic on MLK, Planned Parenthood would kill thousands of babies a year along with the quarter-million they kill annually in our nation.

We know you stand to make a lot of money, but is this really how you want to make your money?

The churches and other buildings you have designed are a wonderful legacy for your city and your heirs. But what kind of legacy is a building designed for the purpose of putting babies to death?

In defense of these innocents, be assured, Mr. Ankrom, that in our business dealings and at our place of worship, we will work hard with others to make sure any businesses involved in a building for Planned Parenthood will have none of our business.

No one should profit from the death of innocent babies.

Sincerely,

David C. Hendrickson and Donna E. Hendrickson

Dear Sir,

I am responding to the writer (letter published today) who attempts to blame the Bush administration and abstinence-only education on the epidemic of STD's among teenagers today.

This accusation is quite astonishing for at least two reasons. Firstly, the vast majority of schools teach so-called comprehensive sex education, as the ratio of federal funding for this type of program is 12 times the amount provided to abstinence education. Secondly, it is undeniable that the "sexual revolution" and dramatic increase in contraception use starting in the 1960's was accompanied by an equally dramatic increase in unplanned pregnancies, abortion and sexually transmitted diseases.

In the 1960's, there were only five known STD's, whereas today, there are more than 50, with one teenage girl in four having at least one STD in the U.S.

This is hardly surprising, given the mixed message that comprehensive sex education conveys to young people. After all, it is inconsistent to say that if you engage in premarital sex, you might get one or more of 50 STD's (some of which are incurable) but if you decide to do so, this is how you should do it.

Sincerely,

Anne-Marie Clegg

LETTER TO THE EDITOR March 8, 2008, Mary LaFrancis
I just received a second mailing from Iowa Planned Parenthood's "Healthy Families" campaign. Governor Culver just rejected $320,000 in funds for abstinence education, the only sure prevention for now rampant sexually transmitted diseases, much of which is incurable and some fatal, and unplanned or unwanted pregnancy. He has also appropriated an additional $1,000,000 for Planned Parenthood whose teen website and "sex education" promotes promiscuous sexual behavior, instant gratification and convenience, and homosexuality as healthy and normal. Planned Parenthood's business is contraception, abortion, and baby parts for commercial use and research. It is a profit making industry yet 1/3 of its funding comes from taxes!

Women suffer serious physical harm and psychological consequences, even death, from abortion. Abortion, especially at younger age, first trimester and first pregnancy, and contraception, are established predictors of breast and other cancers, premature birth, sterility, and a host of other problems.
Biologists have known for some time of "estrogen overload" in water systems and oceans of the world partly from the artificial estrogens in contraceptives (which actually do not so much prevent conception but act as abortifacients in preventing the 5 to 7 day old tiny baby from implanting in the womb. These estrogens do not filter out or degrade and are causing environmental havoc in ecosystems and humans with more ill effects becoming evident.

Natural Family Planning is more effective than artificial contraception to delay, avoid, or to even achieve pregnancy. NFP has no side effects, promotes respect, cooperation and harmony in marriage which is reflective in a 5% divorce rate!

PPL has been conducting a nation and world wide expansion, building numerous mega facilities (22,000 to 78,000 square feet) throughout our country, under guise of blind corporation names, carefully marketed and placed near high schools and low income, African American, and Hispanic neighborhoods. With it's roots in the eugenics movement and Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood's founder, the holocaust of abortion has taken some 50 million innocent lives, 1/3 of today's generation and their descendants, since the unconstitutional passing of Roe vs.Wade in 1973. Decriminalizing abortion has not made it "safer and or rarer"!

No wonder the blind eye to illegal immigration and border insecurity with this country's labor shortage, shrinking economic and tax base, and low military enlistment. Where are the families, children and grandchildren to care for their elders and disabled who now face "medical ethics" and restricted insurance coverage, assisted suicide and involuntary euthanasia ? Now babies supposedly diagnosed by genetic screening and sonogram with imperfections or deformities are aborted, while many of those given birth are perfectly normal and healthy!

There is extensive documentation, research, and testimony to verify these statements with more coming to light with current evidence and awareness. I can attest with my own experience as a registered nurse over some 50 years, my personal and family life, and hands on involvements to date and at present.

March 31 marks the 3rd anniversary of the death by starvation and dehydration of Terri Schindler-Schiavo by court order, no food and water allowed by feeding tube or mouth. Terri was not terminally ill or dying, but alert and responsive, radiant and loving, beloved by her family and the world.
"Terri's Day" has been established to honor her supreme suffering and sacrifice and serve a warning of this danger to others. I was there to witness the horror and helplessness of this tragedy, clearly an atrocity!

Man undertakes to control life and death when not God! "Fools rush in where wise men dare not tread." The wages of sin is death!
God's Way on the other hand is wondrous, brings true joy, health, happiness and fulfillment! Learn of Him, for His yoke is easy, His burden is light, and brings Everlasting Life for Eternity! Choose, work to bring about a Culture Life!

LETTER TO THE EDITOR IN RESPONSE TO HEIDI HOWARD 3/20

Dear Editor,

Heidi Howard's response to my letter of March 6 is an example of the need for factual information on the issues of life that face us today. Some 5 million lives and their descendants have been taken through abortion since Roe vs Wade was passed in 1973 with dire impact and multiple consequences to everyone. Many lives, those of the mothers, young girls and women, are hurt, the fathers, and families including myself, are deeply affected.

No matter the reasons or rationalizations, human life is present from the moment of fertilization. There is no justification for the killing of human life for any reason, especially by Planned Parenthood, a profit making industry founded by Margaret Sanger, a professed racist and eugenicist.
"Contraception" does not so much prevent conception but, as an abortifacient, prevents the implantation of the 5 to 7 day old baby to grow to birth which is a natural event. Abortion is one of the most common and dangerous of procedures, an unnatural and violent act.
Sex is for marriage with the natural outcome of bonding between husband and wife, and new life. To intervene in this natural process is to invite consequences no matter the so called "right" or "choice" which is not just the mother's body, but that of another human person created by God and having it's own right to life. Abstinence is the only and sure way to prevent unwanted pregnancy, now rampant sexually transmitted infections and the host of other serious disorders.
If we fully understood the abortion procedures, what it does to the mother's body and life, and that of the living, often viable and feeling unborn child, it would be unthinkable.

I come from some 50 years of professional experience as an RN in many fields of nursing, my personal, family, and hands on involvements today, extensive and ongoing files, references and resources. I stand behind every comment I make. One does not need to even believe in God (which to me is foundational), to realize the facts, consequences, causes and effects, scientifically verified, established and traditional values as guiding principles for our lives that insure true health, success, and happiness in life But this is not the wares of much of today's secular culture. Then we say, "If only someone had told me, if I had only known!"

Daily I receive information and news that demonstrate the urgency and gravity of the issues which mainstream media continue to deny and ignor. An excellent website among many, is Life Issues Institute.org or Lifeissues.org with some 24 topics and links including a Teen site.
There is currently a local dialogue over water pollution from a multitude of contaminents including "sex hormones".
Regarding Terri Schiavo, I have donated books to the Fairfield Library and have more available, some on line, others presently being written. as well as volumes of other documentation. As I also said, I was there and know first hand!
The Terri Schindler Schiavo Foundation and Priests for Life web sites have extensive factual and ongoing details.

I am happy to share information. My email at mnlafrancis@natel.net and phone number 641-472-6549. These are ongoing matters for serious discussion and consideration.

Sincerely,

DEAR LETTER TO THE EDITOR,

Political rhetoric and bickering can make an informed choice of a candidate confusing. Issues are the most important consideration in the individual person, also the party platform. Every vote is important and every voice is heard and makes a difference in the outcome, makes the political process of democracy work or not. Getting involved is not that hard and is interesting and rewarding. Call your party's chairman and take the first step.

The Iowa caucuses, first in our nation, are on January 3 and a significant influence on who will be supported and chosen.

For me the most important and fundamental issue of all is the right to life.
With the technology of 4D sonogram one can clearly see that the unborn child is a person no different than after birth

Does saying that abortion spares a child a life of abuse or poverty give the right to end it's life any more than killing an abused child or one in poverty? The authority of law must be just and moral.

Do unto others what you would have them do unto you. Man's true rights and liberties come from God and not government for government can give and government can take away which is too much power. Power can corrupt and absolute power can corrupt absolutely.

Evil flourishes when good men do nothing. Do the little things with a great deal of love Blessed Mother Theresa has said.
Do the right thing and God will take care of the rest. With God evil will not prevail and good will overcome.

Catholic Archbishop Chaput said that most people, want to elect someone who has the skills, the moral character and the real commitment to the common good that will enable him or her to lead."In the Catholic Tradition, responsible citizenship is a virtue, and participation in political life is a moral obligation."

March 8 was the first day of the public display of Pro-Life Waco's billboard challenging the Central Texas Komen Race for the Cure for failing to warn women about the abortion/breast cancer link and for $45k annual grants to Waco Planned Parenthood abortion provider.
The billboard location on the 1700 block of Frankin Avenue is just 8 blocks from the offices of the Waco Tribune Herald—in clear view of editorial board members as they commute to work. In an Easter Sunday editorial, the Trib blasted our billboard and urged motorists to look the other way.

The Trib editorial and a JPEG file of the (terrific) billboard is attached.
Another Trib editorial on Monday the 24th of March urged Planned Parenthood style sex (promiscuity) education to
counter the nation's STD epidemic effecting a quarter of American teen girls and half of African-American teens.
This editorial is also attached.

The editorials reveal that the Trib editorial board is closely aligned with Planned Promiscuity of Waco.

Please read the editorials and consider sending a letter to the Waco Trib on one of the editorials. You can send a letter to
the Trib as an email attachment letters@wacotrib.com

The Central Texas Komen Race for the Cure is Saturday May 3. Let's continue to challenge the unholy alliance
between the Central Texas Race of the Cure and Waco's Planned Parenthood abortion provider. Planned Parenthood
extinguishes the lives of about 1,200 unborn babies in Waco every year.

Your prayers and your support are greatly appreciated.

The monthly rental on the billboard is $250. Any financial support you could provide will be a blessing.

Editor: Regarding a recent letter about the white crosses near the Prince of Peace Votive Church, abortion is not just a Catholic thing. It is true that the Catholic Church makes a firm stand against abortion while reaching out to any woman in a crisis pregnancy to offer help. However, the crosses are placed on the shrine grounds by St. Gerard Campus, our local crisis pregnancy center and high school for unwed mothers. The director of the facility is Catholic, but approximately 70 to 85 percent of the girls, who come in for testing and who attend the school, are of other denominations. St. Gerard's a is totally non-denominational facility that does free pregnancy testing and sonograms, free counseling for pregnant teens and women in crisis and much, much more.

You can view their Web page at StGerardCampus.org.

The 4,000 crosses represent the number of abortions in our nation daily. That's each and every day 4,000 babies are removed from their mother's womb, supposedly the safest place on earth to be. The crosses are placed as a public reminder to all of what has happened in our nation. Abortion is used as birth control. Only about 1/2 to 1 percent of these 4,000 abortions are from rape or incest. The rest are for other reasons. Many women feel trapped with no escape and frequently the father of the child wants the mother to abort. This lack of responsibility by our men is a major problem. There is no free sex. It has consequences, one of which is pregnancy. When men don't want to stand up to the consequences we have women being coerced into abortion. The truly abused woman is one who has been abandoned by the father of the child she is carrying

This is the reality of the crosses.

Editor:

As president of United for Life of Merced County I look forward to our annual “Rally for Life.” This year it is on Wednesday Jan. 25 and its theme is “Proud to be Pro-Life.” After the rally I always search through the local newspapers to see what is printed as anywhere from 150 to 200 people attend. Seldom is anything printed besides text describing a photo and invariably we are always referenced as Anti-Abortion and those opposing us as Pro-Choice.

Calling us, who put on and attend the Rally, anti-abortion is nothing more than a bias against us, a bias established by the news media. Last year when being interviewed by a local reporter, she was stunned when I corrected her by saying we are much more than anti-abortion. It was as though her construed thoughts limited us to being only anti-abortion.

Being “Pro-Life; For Life” includes a dedication to the preservation of Human life from fertilization to natural death. We are opposed to the taking of any life without due process. Additional ideologies we oppose are infanticide, mercy killing, euthanasia and assisted suicide.

If you want to continue perpetrating your bias by calling us anti-abortion, I challenge you to begin calling those opposing us an opposite bias. Describe the folks you normally veil as Pro-Choice with something akin to Anti-Life. I am not encouraging name calling, rather I am asking you to please quit exhibiting your negative bias towards us and call us what we are “Pro-Life; For Life.” Thank you.

Dear Editor,

This is an open letter to ---------, who is tired and annoyed by the pro-life letters in our paper. Since we live in a pro-life county, I doubt that the pro-life letters offend the majority of readers.

Pro-lifers continue to write letters because to us the abortion issue is not over until abortion laws are changed. Just like the abolitionists did not consider slavery over until slavery was abolished.

I believe slavery and abortion are of the same nature. They both are a violation of the moral rights of another human being. Therefore, I must continue in the battle to do my part to end the killing of innocent lives. If that means spoiling your day, then so be it.

I believe there is no bigger issue. To the aborted, it does not matter what is being taught in school – they will not go to school. To the aborted, it does not matter if homosexuals can marry – they will not marry. If you cannot get out of the womb, the issues of terrorism, illegal immigrants, and global warning simply do not matter.

I believe, like the abolitionists, we must keep the issue in the hearts and minds of our community in the hope that one day we can change the law. Then you will no longer see pro-life letters that offend you, just like you do not see letters from abolitionists today.

St. Johns County Right to Life
Chapter President, Belinda Noda

As soon as my father's sperm and my mother's egg united successfully, I began to enter into this world. Immediately after that union, I never ceased to be who I am. Each of us grows in the womb to who we are, uniquely. Eventually, though, the time comes when we have to die. I am grateful that I did not die at the hands of my mom in her womb or at the hands of an unscrupulous physician. I have seen grown men cry at the miracle of birth as they held their newborn child. Why are we not all awestruck at the miracle of the birth of a brand new human?

I am a singer. The voice that God gave me brings listeners to grateful tears. I am in awe that mom did not snuff out that voice and at 82 God still uses my voice to bring peace, joy and comfort to listeners.

Working Together For Life

Regarding the Columbian’s recent editorial, “Encouraging Trend: U.S. abortion rate reaches 30-year low; both sides working together is best strategy’, unfortunately it is not proven that anything Planned Parenthood does reduces abortions or sex related illness. The truth is that they are a prime collaborator in the promotion of promiscuity around the world. This results in the actual increase in abortions, the spread of appalling epidemics, and family instability. There is a fresh wind blowing though when the Columbian can say “Still, taking the lives of 1.2 million unborn babies is something we should all be concerned about and work to change.” But it should be shocking to speak of taking just one child’s life, how is it we are so numb to talk this way about millions. This isn’t some fictional drama! At least 90% of the Columbian’s endorsements are for pro-abortion candidates. Rarely does the Columbian endorse a pro-lifer. And rarer still does the Columbian support legislation restricting abortion. For years abortionists have spewed out lies: It’s just a mess of tissue! Thank God for all 4,500 pro-lifers who gathered for the March for Life in Olympia on January 22nd, and thank God for the many, many young people who realize the truth about abortion and support strong respect life positions.

DEAR LETTER TO THE EDITOR,

If "it gets darkest before the dawn," dawn must soon come! I have no doubt that "Satan and evil spirits roam the earth seeking the ruin of souls", but God is provident, above all, no matter the circumstances and appearances. He is Commander in Chief on the battlefield of the culture of death, we are soldiers.

I've made many mistakes in my 72 years and still learn of God's Laws, Love and Presence, especially the sacredness, wisdom and goodness of life according to His Will and Way! We create much suffering for ourselves in our ignorance and disobedience of His Teachings. God is love, is compassion, mercy and forgiveness, but we reap and must deal with the consequences of what we sow.

If you are pro abortion you are not fair, you might think you are being fair to mothers ,but you are not because mothers have a longer life than babies , and they will think about what they did for their whole lives.
It's like if a child makes a beautiful sand castle and then a person destroys the sand castle.
The child would be sad just like God is when people destroy his babies. He loves babies! Just think would you want to be killed before you got a chance to live?
So be pro-life!
