Live and Let die is 21st Century view
Susan Chapple (Your Say, August 16) says that humans have no right to cull magpies or seagulls. Live and let live sounds like a wonderful philosophy, but a few months ago she said that the world is overpopulated so women should be forbidden to have more than two children.
At the time, I was too busy to respond, but I disagree with her on both issues because humans have an inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Wildlife does not.
Regardless of her opinions or mine, a few moments thought about babies in the womb shows that the dominant philosophy of 21st century society is live and let die.

Local Devon swimmer Tom Daly had just failed to qualify for the 10m swim in the Olympic Games. Plymouth airport had been closed for five years, but people were still complaining about it, and a truck ploughed into a group of 10 or 15 ponies on Dartmoor.
